SCALPINGS

A 40mm down to dust limestone product which compacts down to form a hard base. Under most drives and patios you would lay a base of compacted scalpings before putting down a mix of sand and cement and then your paving or blocks, this ensures a really solid base that will support the paving, blocks or gravel and avoid cracking or dipping.

SHINGLE

Organic-based asphalt shingles are manufactured with a base (also termed mat or substrate) made of various cellulose fibers, such as recycled waste paper and wood fibers. This organic base is then saturated with a specially formulated asphalt coating and surfaced with weather resistant mineral granules.

TOP SOIL

Topsoil is the top layer of the earth's surface. Topsoil is dark in color and high in organic matter, which makes it very easy to till and fertilize ground for growing plants. It is scraped from the ground and sold in bags or bulk, often called "black dirt".

BALLAST

Also called “all in ballast” or “concreting ballast” this product is a blend of sand and gravel which is up to 20mm in size which is typically mixed with cement and water to make concrete.
